Quiltathon march day 2

Today I have been sewing 4 more blocks from the 1930 quilt. Two are with handapplique and that slowed me down a lot. There is one 12", one 9" en two 6" inch blocks. I just love working on this quilt a lot and there will be more blocks coming soon.
Than I also worked on the romatic strip quilt to get the borders done and so I did. Now I can go and quilt this one. Any ideas anyone?

Quiltathon march

Well I decided to join the quiltathon this month as I want to make some progress on a few projects. Today I made 5 blocks and a half. The half is one I am cutting at the moment and is an applique one.
The big one is a 9", the smaller ones 6" en the small ones 3". Still a lot more blocks to sew on this one. TomorrowI first will unpick the left side of the bottom (purple/yellow one) block as that doesn't line up properly and than I think I will sew some more blocks from this quilt, but it somehow can be that I will work on another quilt. We will see. You will here tomorrow evening. Also than my stashreport which is not bad at all wasn't it that a order came in today with two backing fabrics, but they will be used soon.

LRRH update and exchange received

Yesterday I got this beautiful quilt in the mail from Melinda It is purple and very beautifull. I am feeling very happy with it. Thanks Melinda for the beautifull quilt.
Than it is time to do an update of Little red riding hood. Not as much progress as I would have liked, but I didn't stitch as much in the evenings as I normally do as I have first been reading all the blogposts I was behind on. Will try to stay more up to date from now on :-)

Stashreport week 12

This week was a good week for the busting as I used more than came in. I was hitting some buttons this week on fatquartershop, but removed them all. Maybe I am not so good later this week, but for now I haven't bought anything.

I have worked on spring magic or what ever I am going to call this quilt when finished and also on a round robin which is highly overdue and I hope to finish this month so I can send it back to it's rightfull owner and than hoping off course she will like it. Also made a block from the sbs quilt (b2)
Also I have send out my monochromatic swap and hope my partner will like it.
Next week I want to work some more on the round robin, finish the strawberry quilt, make something from the scraps from that quilt and when time left I will do block b3 of sbs and really when more time left I will work also on the romantic strip quilt. Lucky me I only have to work for two days this week.
Fabric in this week: 0 meter
Fabric in in 2009: 20.85 meter

All kind of things

She and me are since last year working on the Sylvia's bridal sampler, but due to circumstances we haven't worked on it since april. After we saw eachother last weekend with the retreat we have decided to start again. As I have finished one block more than her I started real slow with b2. The baset block was already finished, but didn't know for sure I had a pic of it that is why it is in the pic. B2 is paperpieced and that is still not my favourite sewing technique. Next week b3 is on my list of things to do.
With all the cutting of the charmsquares for this quilt I had a lot of little scraps over and I just was a bit of playng with them and this is the first I made of it. It is a birthdaypresent for someone, hope to send it out this weekend with some other things. Hope the receiver will like it.
Tomorrow I will start and hopefully finish quilting the quilt mentioned above and put on the binding. I have so much fun with it, but first I want to clean up my sewingroom as it really needs that.

A finish

When I went to the quilting retreat friday I picked up my friend Jacqueline to ride to Elst (Ut). The weather was great friday, the rest of the weekend was more rainy. When we came there, there were already a few ladies, but we were very early so not so many ladies arrived already. Jacqueline and I set us at a table and Mary, Simone and Margeeth joined us. I started doing the binding on Nature's Trail, but well didn't go very hard. It wasn't finished till saturdayevening and I didn't have to do more than a yard of the binding. But I have been talking to some ladies and just didn't feel like doing a lot. I went to bed late, but also was up early.
On saturdaymorning at breakfast we got out potholders (yes it is not a tablerunner, but a potholder for both hands. For me it doesn't work, so it will be a couchcaddy or something like that. I love the kitty one I received a lot I have to say, just don't know yet from who I received it. Than I decided it was really time to do something and I started cutting the 2 charmpacks for this shnibbles pattern "McGuffey" and when I finished the cutting (I didn't bring my sewing machine) I went back to the binding and got the quilt finished.
Sunday with breakfast we got another little present, but as it was not my thing I gave it to a friend who I knows loves chickens very much. Yesterday I was early in the evening again at home and after a long night I am feeling great again and so today I worked on the cut blocks and they are all finished. Only thing left to do is put on the inner border and the outer border. Again it is done with Strawberry lemonade fabrics.

Where is my HEAD

LOL forgot to tell you all that I have been stitching on Little red riding hood and making some great progress. I am working on more than one page at a time, so it will take some time before I will finish a page.

Again a lot to show

This weekend my parents were here for John his birthday and they brought the framed Englosch garden sampler with them. The frame is a bit purpleisch. I really like how it is framed. Now hoping my aunt and uncle will like it too. We will know the 26th of March. Next weekend we have the dutch quilting retreat in Elst and I am looking very forward to it. Today I have made the gift we will get at the breakfast sunday, it had to be a panholder that fits both hands. I am not totally happy with the result but can live with it, just not perfect. Now just have to pack it up. Next is to think what kinf of WIPs/UFOs I will bring with me. It will be Nature's Trails as I only have to do a little part of the binding and I will surely have a finish in the weekend than. My mother already has done 3 sides of the handwork of the binding so only one side left for me. Than I will be bringing my hexagonquilt to get some quilting done on it, also
I am thinking about a quilt I have made at a applique workshop that still needs some applique done and than maybe Journey of a quilter for some stitcherie time.
Also I had to two blocks for the spring fling round robin to make up the postage, Margaret will use them for charity. They are 12 inch blocks. Also made my center for the rr, but we may not show it.

Stashreport week 10

Well it was a very good week for using stash. I have now a lot more time on my hands now my stitching is finished on EGS (In an hour I will see it framed when my parents arrive). I have been working on a big rr and as I am ready with pulling fabrics for it from my stash it can now go in to my stashreport. It used up 3 meters, so that is great. Than I made the monochromatic quilt which used up half a meter and made 2 12 inch blocks and the middle for the spring fling round robin which used up also hal a meter.
But well also there came in some fabrics. A long awaited package from the fattquarted shop from the fig and plum collection for a little quilt (some yardage and 2 charmpacks), I also received some stash at my birthday which I am going to use off course. Which is also included, but from what I received I also used some already, isn't that great.

Week 10
Fabric in: 5.30 meter
Fabric out: 4 meter

2009
Fabric in: 20.85 meter
Fabric out: 13 meter

(Plans for next week are there already, as I have to make a gift for the quilting retreat next weekend)

A beautifull birthday package found my doorstep

I just got a beautifull package from Laura. I just love everything she send me. First the beautifull stitching pocket she made for me. She had to use 3 sewing problems as she had problems with the finishing. But it is beautifull done. Just watch the beautifull over one stitching and the buttons are from her grandmothers button jar. Isn't it a beauty.
Than all the beautifull goodies. I somehow misplaced the beads when making the pic, but she also send me 4 packages of beads that were on my wishlist. Also a skien from thread gathere that was on my wishlist and some nice GAST threads.
Than a sheperd's bush needleroll that was on my wishlist. Than the LHN quilting chartpack as I am a quilting queen (her words not mine), A shop exclusive kit from shperd's bush "A gentle garden" with framing mats and it is beautifull, will be a joy to stitch this this spring/summer. Than a cut fob from sheperd's bush with scissors attached to them and than she made me also a beautifull strawberry emery/fob. I love the garden theme she used for my birthdaypackage and I am just in shock and so so happy. Thank you Laura for this beautifull package which really made my day today.

Vacation

Well you had to wait a while, but here are than some vacation pics. We had great weather, only on my birthday there was no snow falling from the sky, but I didn't find that a problem. I had a great time with my family and watched my nephew and niece a lot. It was the 10th year we were in Flachau Austria and our hotel holder made us this beautifull swarzwalderkirchtorte. You can see there was a lot of snow, so on sunday we made this snowman and this photo was taken on tuesday, you can see he had a lot of snow on his head. The first day we were together with my parents and as it was snowing we made a nice walk to the top of the hill/mountain and walked down (in total 20 km). Me and my mum walking. On the hill there was lots of snow. Me walking in the snow. And here is my nephew at the end of the week. He was doing great.

Birthday stash

A post about my vacation will be after this one. I am in a birthdaygroup on a dutch quilting list and we exchange strips of fabric for our birthdays. I got 55 strips for my birthday and I already know what to do with them. It will probaly become a wave quilt with some other fabrics too, but well first I have a lot of other things to do.
I also am a member of a birthdayclub on a english stitching yahoo list and also got to unpack all their gifts. I was spoiled a lot.
And on to the next pic. These fabrics I also got for that group and I used them already in a quilt.
