Great mail day

Today my DH went to the postoffice to collect a package for me from www.naaipatronen.nl and well I ordered some nice ones.
First Simplicity 4277. I have to say I like all the tunics very much. I am also sure I probaly will make a few of them. Just have to see which fabrics I will be using. From simplicity 2948 B, C and E very much. All have a very good chance to get used.
From simplicity 3697 I only don't like the sleeves on A, but the rest of them I really love.
Well from simplicity 3699 I like the V-neck very much, the round neck I am not sure of.
I am a big fan of A, B, E and F. The first top is not really my thing and the skirt I am not totally sure of.
From simplicity 4164 I like all the tunics, but D will get other sleeves that is sure.

I hope to show some sewing in a week or two. I have some fabrics that maybe work for these or when I can drive a car again I will go shopping for fabrics.

I am walking again

Well not really walking as I still need my crutches to walk, but it is going better and better. Yesterday they have removed all the iron in my leg and they had great problems with the local anaesthesia. They could anaesthetise my skin not well and so I first felt the cut in my skin and when she was finished I also felt every stitch she made in my skin and boy that was painfull. Also removing the plate was very painfull. But well I survived. I now can start walking again and I hope next week I can do the shopping again myself.
Well stitching and quilting, mmm I am busy stitching on Little red riding hood and this page is going very slow. I think I am now 2/3 on this page. Quilting I haven't done in a week or more, but is on my agenda this week/weekend. Hope to sandwich the hexagonquilt this week and start the quilting. I have bought fabrics last week at the fattquartershop and yesterday came in the first envelope. It were the charmpacks of winter from moda and two tinme1,5 yard of two of the fabrics. A jellyroll of winter is still on it's way and I also bought a christmas fabric jellyroll from moda, just can't remember how the line is called. Than this week I bought a few sewing patterns for cloths from Simplicity and Butternik.

Life is busy

The past weeks were very busy with work and also at home there was a lot to do. So that is why I have been silent. Now I just want to show my progress on Little red riding hood. I have finished page 19 now and am busy with 20. Both are difficult pages with a lot of color change. Do you see that the wolf really is growing. I love it every page a little bit more.

I am a happy girl

I am a very happy girl as I have my laptop since fridayevening and it is so great to being able to read all the websites now a lot better as I am now a lot closer to the screen.
Also I am doing great in not buying any fabric, this is already the 4th week without buying anything and the last buy I did was backing for a quilt, so I think buying fabric the last time was something like8 weeks ago.

Update LRRH

Just wanted to show you LRRH for this week as saturday and sunday there won't be any stitching happening as my father turned 60 tuesday and tomorrow we will be going to the zoo. Maybe I will get this page finished next week.
I have worked 3 days this week only 2 and a half hours a day and it was pretty hard, but I was glad with the distraction.

LRRH and a finish

Yesterday I heard my spring house and garden exchange finally arrived in Venezuela, took more than 7 weeks to arrive. I stitched a design from Little house needleworks. If I could remember which I would let you all know. It is just a little part of it as I wanted to finish it as a tin.
This week I have also been stitching on Little red riding hood and the second row of pages is finished now and I am busy with page 18.
I still love stitching this one very much.
Our day to Amsterdam was nice, but very tiring and I still feel it a lot. First we made filled chocolats and than we had a nice walk/ride through the Jordaan (part of Amsterdam) and after that a diner (the food was terrible and to go to the toilet I had to go up two stairs. My arms still hurt from them.
Today my DH had a job inteview and he got the job. I am so happy as he will earn more money.

Carol's Round Robin

This past 3 days I have been working on Carol's neighborhood round robin and yesterdaynight I finished it. The movie I was watching took a lot longer than was in the guide, but it was a good movie.
It is a design from Maryse called Elisa's sampler and I stitched part of it. Pic is not the best, sorry.
Tomorrow will be fun as I will go to Amsterdam by train. Luckily my colleagues will help me on and out of the train. Hope it will be a nice day.
My ankle isn't much swollen anymore and a lot less painfull.
At the moment I am mostly thinking about what we will be doing for vacation in September. Really thinking to go back to the Czech Republic, but not on the bike, but now just seeing churches, etc. LOL even thought about a sun, beach and sea vacation, but that is not really something for us.
Laptop will not be send till the 20th of June, but I can wait that long.

Good news and naughty girl

Yesterday I went back to the doctor and got finally some good news.

I don't need another very little surgery till the 8th of July to remove the screws and that will not happen on the or, but just at the doctor. And than I can start walking again. He was very happy with how it looked and we had a very nice talk.

Also monday I will start working again at leats try. The Dr said already to watch myself very carefully and not let me be rushed.

Stitching wise I am working on Carol's neighborhood rr and it going to be beautifull. Pic will follow later this week.

Quilting wise, am nothing, should do some quilting on Lentekriebels, maybe later today. And also should be working on a rr.

Than the naughty girl part. I bought a laptop today.

The pic is a design I stitched some years agao from charland designs.

Update on LRRH

This is my weekly update on Little red riding hood from HEAD. I started stitching on it again after finishing NHA and only had a break from it while stitching spring fever. I have finished page 17 of it now (right side of the curtains and am now nusy with the page in between. The curtains on this side are the most boring that is why I first stitch them and can now almost go working on the clock.

Monthly finishing challenge

Thos month was the challenge a biscornu and that is the finish I don't like at all, but I had this great chart from cat's whiskers and just had to do it.

So just on time finished, here it is.

I am also stitching on Little red riding hood and that one really grows in my hands.

Thanks all for the hugs and feeling with me. That does a lot for me.

venting

Sorry english readers, but now will follow a dutch venting post to get rid of my frustrations. Just the situation with my ankle nothing that you will miss.

Grrrrrrrr ^$$#$#^%*%^%$# Ik ben er even helemaal klaar mee.

A huge finish and an exchange received

I just put in the last stitches on Nature's Home afghan. I loved every stitch on this one. I started it march 2003 and now after a bit more than 5 years it is finished. That is 6 blocks a year, not bad at all I think as I didn't stitch on it last year at all. In real life it looks even better. Pics are both not perfect, but you can't imagine how hard it is to make a pic on one leg.
Today I also got a beautifull exchange from Becky K in OK. I like it very much and love the things she has included in the package.
Also I want to thanks everyone for feeling with me and my ankle. After this second surgery I have more pain, but it is manageble.

Surgery went fine

Whaat all went wrong last time, did go right this time. I had to be at the hospital at 8.30, but as I didn't want John to take some hours off I let him deliver me on my work and asked if one of them good get me to my room later. It was fun being on my work for an hour to hear how it was going there.

Around 8.30 I was going to my room and the nurse got a call even before I was in the room that the OR was ready for me. I was planned around 0.30 pm and now it was only 8.45 am when they phoned. So we than went very fast to undress and get me my premedication, than have a fast drive to the OR and there also everything went very fast to get me ready, the one in front of me was not in time on the hospital and was put behind me now.

On the OR we had a lot of fun as first they thought I was the other patient and the doctor said well I see we are going to do your right ankle today. Now that doctor won't say that anymore lol. He understood fast that it was only putting the screws well in place on my left ankle and that he had to leave my right ankle where it was. With all these things we had a lot of fun in the OR and had a lot of laughs. I knew a lot of the people in the OR. They also looked with a scoop on both sides of my ankle if it was now good in place, so I hope it will be perfect now. I am not in a lot of pain, but am just very tired again. Was home already the same day around 6 pm. The pic is from a week ago at that time my ankle was already a lot less swollen than he was before.

Again bad news and two finishes

Today I had to get back to the hospital for an inspection and well I didn't get very good new. The room between my ankle and leg is to wide and the have to set the screws again and that will happen tomorrow with a new operation in the morning (at least it is planned that way). We will see how late the operation will take place and I will keep you up to date thursday. The weeks will count again starting tomorrow, so I still have 6 weeks again in front of me with no standing on that foot.

Yesterday I have been quilting on "Lentekriebels"and I have been stitching this past week on Nature's Home afghan and I have finished two blocks, only two more to go. This block 29 and 30, now only left to do are block 26, 27 and 28

A real quilt ...

as some say that it is only a real quilt when it is totally done by hand. Well this one is. I even put the borders on by hand. It helped me through the bad days.
edited: I don't agree with this for me every quilt is special and all the ones I have done so far were only done by machine.

I know it still needs a bit of ironing, but well that isn't the easiest thing to do. That probaly will happen this week. My DH bought a backing for it and also fabric for the binding, he also got my sewingmachine which is back from it's service at the dealer. When I have sandwiched it I will also do the quilting by hand, but that will have to wait a while.

At the moment it is my stitchingtime as I am busy on Nature's Home afghan and well only tree is left to stitch. So there is a finish gloring at the end of the road.

My leg hurts here and there sometimes, but I have a good day again after having thursday such a bad day. John and me went on groceries with the two of us and that went great. I even could help a bit. Thanks everyone for the compliments on the rr.

A bad day

Today I have a very bad day with pain and everything. I already had a bad night with nightmares and very bad sleeping. Hope tomorrow I feel a bit etter again.

I just wanted to show you the Round Robin of Susan I have been working on yesterday and also before my vacation. It is now on it's way to the USA, luckily my neighbor didn't have a problem to go to the postoffice for me.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

I am healing very well. Just am very tired at the moment, but with a bit of more sleep everything will come alright. I forgot to tell (I think) that I may not stand on it for 6!!!!! weeks. LOL I couldn't even keer that yell in when I hurt the doctor say that in the OR. He had a good laugh about it and he just said I think I hear the patient complain let's go and talk to her.
I was a bit worried about the Feathered friends exchange on SBEBB that I send before my vacation. Just read that Donna has received it. I stitcher her blackbiirds and blossoms from LHN. Love stitching their patterns very much. I finished it into a pinkeep, that is one of my favourite finishes and not that difficult to do.
I just went and looked in my send dates list and saw that I can relax for a few months, I know I have planned a little of time on exchanges myself and well now I am really happy with that with my leg and everything. I only have to ask my DH or my neighbor to post one envelope with the round robin of Susan in it and the rest will not be in the mail till I can walk again.
This message took sometime as the computer is just a little bit to far away and it does cost energy from my eyes to look at the creen even when I put it to a very large lettertype.

Here I am again

I am back from hospital and surgery. I was already yesterday, but due to concentration problems I didn't post to the board yet. I am still not my best at concentration and am very soon very tired. So I will do a lot of sleeping and resting and well it can be that this post will take a bit longer than normal.
Friday I went around 11.am to the hosp[ital to first do a visit to my coleagues and after that a going to the room I would get in the hospital. I was sheduled at 1.30 pm for surgery, so after around 10.30 am I hadn't had any fluids or meals anymore. When we arrived at the florr the surgery was shedules for 2.15 pm, but well that time pasted to. Than around 3.15 pm the nurse got me my premedication and so well it looked like I would have my surgery around 4 pm. Well that time past and around 6 pm I still was lying on my bed and felt really worse. Lucky me my DH came to see how I was doing and went to the nurse right away as I was looking very very sick and hydrated after not getting any fluids for so long. So I got an IV ASAP with fluids, which was very problematic and I got in tears, but after the first bag of 500 ml I felt better a lot and after another bag I felt even better, had some talks and jokes again. But still no surgery. Well around 9 pm I got the premedication again and 9.30 pm I really got to the OR where I was operated and had some laughs with the persons in the OR as some recognized me from the hospital. Surgery went great I got a little slepmedication to keep me relaxed, but somehow that didn't worked till when I was back in my bed, but there was no problem at all. Somehow they even got rid of my blister on my finger that I got from riding the wheelchair and I even didn't feel that.
I now have two plates in my ankle and some srews. No cast on it, so for that I am very happy. I have to move it a lot as we don't want any bloodcloths. I have some pains, but well that will go better soon for sure.
I am now working on a hexagonquilt I still had kitted up, that I can work on as it needs not a lot of concentration, just simple stitching.
Yesterday after I got out of the hospital we went for groceries and got in to town as I was totally ready with lying in bed. My DH didn't have any trouble with pushing the wheelchair and I even visted the LQS to visit Tonnie and get the backing for the cat's paw which was still waiting for me. It was so nice to be outside again. Only minor fact was that I was biten by a wasp (hope babelfish did a good translation LOL). I was horrified when it flew in my t-shirt and bit me, lucky me my DH stayed very relaxed.
Well I am going now, see you all later. I am reading all your blogs very slowly and probaly will not respond a lot, but believe me I am still around.
Already thanks to everyone wishing me well.

More news from the hospital

Today I went to the hospital to see wwhat a dutch doctor would say and well I can say no good news for me. A band broek between both my bones in my leg and now I have to get surgery fridayafternoon. Till that time I have to lay my leg high and only get it down to get to the toilet or to bed. I have a cast on and will get another one after surgery. I have now more pain than without the cast, but well it is worth everything.
My DH has brought the computer down so I won't feel left out when he is not here. Also our neighbors said when my DH is going to work they will help me when I need something.
So well that is all for now. Now I will go and read some blogs.

Back from vacation, early :-((((

Well as you can see I am back from vacation two week early. Friday I fell down with my bike and twisted my ankle really bad. The doctor in Czech republic said there wasn't anything broken, only a very little part like 1 mm, but that coulsn't be set, so now I have a elastic band around it and am walking on crutches. Tomorrow I will be going to the hospital here in my own town and hope to hear some more as I think the bands around my ankle are torn or maybe, something else. More news later.
Also I have a new NIECE, she was born the 28th around 3 am, I visited her today and she was a darling little girl.

Also read that my garden themed exchange arrived. so here a pic of that one, I just read a message that Goldie likes it. It is garden spot from the trilogy made into a pinkeep.

Today I had to finish the gift for my new nephew/niece as my sewing machine had to get to the dealer for a check up in my vacation and well it is finished.

After that I brought my sewingmachine to the dealer to pick it up after my vacation.

This is all for now. You will see me back in 3 weeks.

Received two exchanges

I hope to show a pic of a finish tomorrow when it is really finished, but now I want to show two beautifull exchanges I received. First a beautifull bag from RoseMarie which was in a perspnal exchange and I can say it will travel with me the coming 3 weeks with my stitching and quilting things in it.
Than today I also received the spring house and garden exchange of SBEBB. It came from Tuula and it is also gorgeous. She made this beautifull pincushion.

Yesterday I started the gift for my new nephew or niece and I am sure it will be gorgeous. Pic will follow later. Also after my vacation I will have a ton of exchanges to show.

I have been sick all weekend and still my stomache is doing strange things, but after such a time I really had to show you block 24 of Nature's Home afghan, only 5 more to go. Hope to finish it after my vacation.
Than saturday I got this beautifull exchange from Heather, I wanted to show it as soon as I received it, but than the toilet and me became very good friends, but here it is. I just love it.

block b 1

Here is yesterdays block of silvia's bridal sampler. I loved making this one. It wasn't that diffcult and I always love to do a bit of applique. Now I have to get my act moving on today's block (b 2).
I also had some good stitching time on Nature's Home afghan, I will probaly finish the next block tonight or tomorrow, it needs a lot of filling stitches here and there and doesn't really go that fast.

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Silvia's bridal sampler

I finished a-10 yesterday, maybe I will unpick it and will redo it as I am not totally satisfied. Next is block b 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 as I am abit behind and as I will be on vacation for three weeks, I should be doing b 7, 8 and 9 too and why not than 10 too, so that a new row will be finished. Now I just have to find the time to do them. I love working on sampler blocks/quilts. When I was looking at Vicky her blog I was very tempted to also do the patchworkparty 2008, but well I survived the temptation.

Question which I hope someone can help with

I am going on vacation in two weeks to the Czech Republic. We will be there for 3 weeks. One week in Kutna Horna, than one week in Praque and than one week in Trebon. The first and last week will be on the bike. Now my question is if there are any quilting or stitching store in the Czech Republic.

Another top done

I just finished the top of Cat's Paw. It was a BOM at quilthome lieselotje my local quiltshop. Only one month left in which we will get the backing and some quiltdesigns. I changed it a bit as I hate paperpiecing I changed both big blocks. One block I did almost the same, but than just another technique and one is totally different.
Now I am going to make something special for someone and than back to the 1930's quilt.

Here's to Ewe exchange received by.....

Simone just let me know she received her exchange. I stitched her the sheep of "Learn to count" from LHN, yes the same one as from which I stitched the house for Katrina's NRR. I made a little pinkeep out of it and I am very happy with how it came out.

Good mail day

Yesterday was a good mail day for me. I received two lovely gifts in the mail. The first one was a give away I won at Becky her blog. I have to say I just love it very much. I will treasure it.
Than yesterday evening the mailman came to our door to give another package. This one was from Myrna. It was the Here's to Ewe exchange. She made me a beautifull flatfold and added some beautifull goodies.
Today I also made sure Erin and Carol will also have a good mail day soon as I send the rr's from Annemarie and Katrina to Erin and the RR from Connie to Carol. Hope all will arrive safely.
I have been doing a lot of quilting and patchwork lately as I try to do an hour a day of patchwork and well I have another top finished, but pic will follow later.

Well I heard RoseMarie that she finally was home to open her package. Due to the death of her mother she wasn't home for 5 weeks andthe package was waiting all the time. But now as a welcome home present she could open it.

I have made her a victorian sewing box. I am glad to know she likes it. Today I received a lot of mail, but that will have to wait till tomorrow for the blog.

Started a new quilt

Just wanted you guys know that I have started my new quilt wednesday and I just love it. I have finished 6 blocks now and I really like the diversity in how big the blocks are. The ones I made now are 3"x3", 6"x6", 9"x9" and 12"x12" They will come in the quilt as how they are pictured in this pic. Hope to make some more blocks tomorrow, but first I will go and finish the Here's to ewe exchange and the spring house exchange, so that they both can get in the mail next week.
Am busy stitching the garden exchange and than the birdie exchange has to be stitched, floss already organized for that one too. 3 weeks till vacation and everything has to go in the mail in the last week before my vacation.
Also found a pattern for a bag to make my new nephew/niece which also has to be finished before my vacation as my SIL is due in our vacation. I am also making him/her the bear/bee quilt, but that will be given a few weeks later.

Neighborhood round robin

Here is Katrina's RR. I just finished it. I have stitched part of the counting house from LHN and I have to say I always love stitching their designs very much.

Yesterday I received the other fabrics from Fattquartershop and now I would love starting the 1930's quilt, but first I have to restart Susan's rr. Well the middle block is drawn so I can start the applique.

Also today I have to do some quilting on Lentekriebels as otherwise I won't get it finished ever.

Sunday, March 30, 2008

A new finish and some stash

Today I finished this pinkeep for the finishing challenge of this month. The design is stitched by someone else and I received it as a rak to make something beautifull out of it. Well I decided on a pinkeep and when I heard the challenge for March was making a pinkeep well one and one is two.
Than the stash, well the pattern on the right I bought a few months ago and the fabbies next to it I bought ;ast week at fattquartershop, there will be following another envelope this week as it was send in two as it was to much for only one envelope. Than I will start this new quilt soon.

Tea time exchange

Today I received a beautifull exchange from Nela in Venezuela. The cup is to put your timble in and the plate for your needles. In the cup is a little magnet, so it stays together very well. It is really beautifull made.
Today I heard some bad news about a lady in our quilt round robin, she really is vanished, to friends of mine in the UK tried to get in contact, one went to her house and it was dark and neglected. She asked the neighbor and she was gone for a some time now and only checked the house now and than. Looks like we have to start two rr's over.
At the moment I am stitching on Katrina's neighborhood rr and also quilting away on my bog starquilt. The middle star is now on to do the rest. Hope to finish the quilting this year, I am doing it by hand.

Sunday, March 23, 2008

Been quilting a lot

I have been working on two quilts this week. One was for my quiltingclass and that is now finished. Now I have to go and quilt it and put on some eyes. Wednesday I will get some felt for the eyes. I loved the class very much and also have learned some new techniques that I can use on other things, like an Round robin I have to work on.
Today I have been stitching on my Here's to Ewe exchange and it is finished. I really love how it ended up.
Also I have been busy with this pillow. I had two charm packs left over from the nature's trail quilt that I am doing and well I thought let's make also a pillow for it. I just love how it came out. The corners aren't perfect, but I can live with them.
Now I am going to stitch on Katrina's Round Robin which came in the mail yesterday and I already choosen the house, it will be another one than my first time I was stitching on it. Hope she doesn't mind. This time it will be an LHN design.
I have been signing up for a bit to many exchanges as a few deadlines are in my vacation, so I will have to finish a few more in April. So there will be a lot of secret stitching going on. Tea time exchange

Just heard that Myrna got my tea time exchange.

Sometimes it is good to clean your sewingroom. I was storaging all my charts differently and well this design from Debbie Mum came into my hands and as we were doing an tea time exchange. I thought lets well stitch it and than go and think about how to finish. Well it became a little teabox. I still had pruple tulip fabric left from 2 years back and here is what became of it. I have to say the pic isn't perfect. I also included a pack of all kinds of tea.

Also am doing some stitching

As a lot of people asked me if I lately only do quilting I will show you I also have been stitching.

First I have done a lot on block 24 of Nature's Home afghan, but all the flowers are always a lot of work, so it is slow progress. Than Michelle's Round robin came in and I started that too as I have to send it out the 15th of this month. Lucky me is that I have all other deadlines finished. There went a box to RoseMarie and a box to .... . For Michelle I am stitching Halloween Alley or at least a part of it. Also going not really fast as Sjors, our cat, only wants to hug the whole day when I am home.

This morning I had my quiltcourse again and it was drawing and cuttingtime. Well you now can see how it will look at the end. Only one wing left at the right goose, but I didn't have enough fusible web. Lucky me is that I will be there again tomorrow, so I can pick some up to do also that last wing and than with the next lesson we will put a small band of fabric around all pieces, my fabric is a bright yellow one and it looks so great. Looking forward to doing some more on this one.
