A finish

I am just back from the quiltingretreat in Westouter and we had so much fun. We also had to make a little challenge quilt. We all got the same fabrics and had to make a quilt that shouldn't be bigger than 25 cm. Here is mine.In the weekend we worked on our own projects. I mainely have worked on Lentekriebels.
Also with the whole group or almost the whole group we worked on a quilt for a aunt of one of the ladies that is a nun. I helped to do the binding.

Here is a finish I can finally show.

Here in veurne

Before I went on vacation I received this beautifull halloween exchange from Edgar. I wasn't expecting anything yet as the deadline was the 10th of october. So it was a very nice surprise.

Here I am in Belgium and having the time of my life. Yesterday was a very long drive as trafic around Amsterdam was dramatic, I did an hour over 14 km and well that is a bit long. Till I arrived at the Belgium border I couldn't go harder than 100 km's per hour. Lucky me I had a stop at Ingrid to pick up some lugage from her so that she can ride with Marjon to Westouter tomorrow. I was around 16.00 in Veurne and I have to say it is a beautifull Bed and breakfast. There is even a fireplace in the room. I am sure John and me will also come here someday with the two of us.
Last night I first finished reading the winding ways quilt from Jennifer chiaverini and loved it every page, but I have to say I loved the other books she wrote better. Than I started stitching on block 1 of Journey of a quilter and you can see here a progress pic.
Today I went first into Veurne to see the city and I have to say it is beautifull. Nice old buildings and such. Also there is a fabric store, needed some things to finish a few exchanges and lucky me they had the right ribbon. Than I went in the bookstore and found a new one from Elizabeth George, Careless in red. I already started it while drinking some in a cafe and later with Lunch. Probaly will read some more tonight. I have to say the first pages are already very catching.

Will be gone

Just wanted to let everybody know that I will be away till next mondayevening. I will be in Belgium with a lot of other ladies and I am sure I will have fun. Hope thursday is a little dryer than today so I can walk at the beach which I just love to do and hope to visit this store .
Than on friday Inge , Guute, Katrien, Shirley and Yvonne will be at the bee at Poperinge and after the quiltingretreat will begin. Don't know for sure if more of the ladies have a blog or maybe I have forgotten one or two.
I will bring my laptop, but if I have internet I am not sure.

It arrived

Well just heard my bag arrived. And Anna likes it a lot, also the fabrics I send with it. When you go to her blog you also see the back side of the bag, which is different and that it also is quilted. Even got a nice comment from her mother.

frustration

I had a lot of frustration today with working on the spring fling round robin first border (round 2). First I mniss calculated how big the blocks had to be. That is when I started to hate myself. Than I thought looks like it is going to be a bit to big, well I forgot to count the border two times, so well I had to change something and lucky me that was easy to do.
So here is the sneak peak. LOL not a lot to see there.

Bag swap

The mailman was just at my doorstep to give me a package from Tami . I love the bag very much and will treasure it. Thanks so much Tami.
For the rest I am quilting like crazy on Lentekriebels and well I am half way now. My DH he is in Frankfurt (D) for 2 days and so I have all the time in the world to quilt. Tomorrow I first have to finish the spring fling round robin as sunday is the day to send it, well that will be monday. Just had problems to decide what to do with the lovely center.

Stoned

Sundayevening I was quilting on Lentekriebels and yes having a 2.50 meter square quilt on your lap is hot, but well it is getting hotter and hotter.
And even more hot when a 8 kilo warm cat also decides he wants to be under it and on your lap LOL. Yes quilting was now a bit hard and this pic I made while lifting up the quilt. Doesn't he looks stoned too.LOentekriebels is going great. I have now almost 1 and a half side quilted and 8 of the 20 little stars quilted and off course the big star in the middle. Yes when I keep up this way it will be done this year. Just have to not let the cat beneath it.

And another finish

Not the best picture, but the bag exchange is finished. After the first terrible try, lucky to know what went wrong. The second time looks great. Colors are a bit warmer in real life. I like how it came out and it will go in the mail soon.

Today I started the halloween exchange and am just loving stitching the design I choosen. Also this next weekend/week I will be working on the spring fling round robin round 2. Now just have to figure out what to do.

A round robin finish

Well first of all I waited much to long before starting stitching on this one. Due date is the 15th, so it is a close one. Now explination of the part I stitched. Cathy asked us to try to include something from your province/country. Well there came the hard time deciding what to stitch. I decided there had to be an harbor as Hoorn has one, but well than my square wasn't filled at all. So I decided to ad some cabbage (green and red) as that is on the fields in West-Friesland in winter days when the tulips are gone. I could have stitched tulips too, but I couldn't find the proper tulip design. Hope Cathy likes it.

I am still busy with the bag exchange as what I made fisrt really was dramatic and I have started over, but needed some matching quilting thread. Have ot now and I am going to work on it tomorrow and soon as it is finished tomorrow it will go in the mail.

Little red riding hood

Here is LRRH after I finished 24 pages and 3 rows of pages. Now on to the next row. Tomorrow I will go looking for a design to put on Cathy's round robin, a design for the pumpkin patch exchange and the halloween exchange or maybe even already tonight. Hope in an hour to go upstairs to sew for an hour on my bag exchange.

Busy, busy

This past week I have been doing a lot of sewing on the 3x3=9 mysterie and it will be lovely when finished. It consists of 12 parts and I have now almost finished the 4th part, a lot of cutting was involved in the parts I have done so far. I also made a mistake in the cutting and lucky me, I had enough fabric left.
I have also been stitching like crazy on Little red riding hood and the next two pages are almost finished. Only 10 more rows to go.
Today I started the bag/bucket exchange and I am still happy with the design I have planned in my head. Hope it will look as good in real.
Than this week I got the center in of the spring fling round robin and also already the second round. For the first border, I still have to think a bit about. I am still not totally sure what to do with it. For the one I have to add the second border too I am totally sure what to do.
Pic is of our house and probaly the last pic of the tree in front of our home as they decided to remove all the trees from our street. Will I miss it, probaly a bit.

Top finished

Yesterdayevening I finished this quilttop, but maybe I will put an extra border around it (black probaly). I will look the next days to it to see if I will do it or not. If anyone has good ideas just let me know.

Next to do is make the bag for the bagexchange and I have a good idea for it. Somehow I got a lot of great ideas in my had the past days, yes that new sewingroom is getting me crazy LOL. I even got thinking I have to work on a BOM I started two years ago again. I had a great idea to work every day, maybe week on another project to get some work on all those big quilts. Also have to trace stitcheries for the Leanne's house BOM will take them also with me to the belgian quilting retreat. Don't want to take my sewingmachine with me.

A compliment and a new block

Today I got a nice compliment from my colleagues when I wore this shirt I bought a dark brown top beneath it and it looks really great. Am very happy with it. Hope to make some more cloths the coming weeks. But first I am working on a few quilts. Yesterday I finished the Wetsouter quiltchallenge and it looks really great. I love the result. Pic won't be viewable till after the quiltingretreat. That was my morning sewing session, not my normal sewing session, but I was off yesterday.
Than in the afternoon/early eveningI have worked on the christmas wave to make another border on it. I try to sew at least a half hour a day and I was surprised what I already can do in a half hour. Another border is added,, only two moro to go.
Than I suddenly realized that I haven't showed you the last 1930's block I have made. Love it very much. This weekend I will make another one and I also wanted to prepare the appliqueblocks to take them with me to the quilting retreat, but that will happen the coming weeks.

My sewingroom is ready

This past months we have been changing my sewingroom and today my DH finally finished the last thing which was the table.
A pic taken from the table
Taken from the window in the boxes on the right side there are all my floss, DMC and others
In the boxes the closest to the table are all my clothing make things and sewng threads. Than a row of boxes that I still have to sort out.
Few to the window.
My table with above the picture is from my own horse and her daughter, I had her 10 years and she died 10 years ago.
The 2 rows of boxes that are the closest to the walls are al my quiltingsupplies and the row next to it are the stitchingsupplies like fabric, charts and floss that is not organized yet in the boxes. Yes I still need some organizing to do.
On top of the boxes are all my works in progress quilting wise and some stitching fabrics.

Doesn't it look colorfull.

planned a weekend away

I got an invite to come to the begian quiltretreat for the second time and as I have off from wednesday till wednesday I decided to make it a long weekend. I will sleep from 1 till 3 october in this B&B and also the sundaynight after the weekend I will sleep there. Will take some books and off course something to quilt with me and I already know what it will be as I want to have it finished. Especially with my leg I have to get some much needed rest.
Today I finished page 22 of Little red riding hood, but won't make a pic till the next two page, when row 3 of pages is finished. Now I will go and do some sewing. I still need to finish the challenge for the quiltretreat, but that I may not show till after that weekend. I want to work on the 1930 quilt and also want to have the wavequilt ready before that same weekend to show and than the bag for the Bag exchange on Linda's blog. You see I am just to busy.
I know I am not much around at the moment, but I am just very tired at the moment. Vacation is near, only 6 more workdays and than I will be having 2 and a half weeks off, really need that.

Some things

Well mail was busy these past days. First I received part of the 40T kit in the weekend and yesterday the rest. I saw this one a week or so ago in the friday feature newsletter of the Fatquartershop and fell in love. Just had to order it and lucky me it came in fast. I have to say in real life Portobello market fabric line is even more pretty. It will become the quilt soon, somewhere in the next year LOL.
Leanne had a giveaway in July and I won a pattern for the bag of her. I love it very dearly and surely am going to make it too this year. Than I also bought the Winding ways quilt so also something to read for me. Page 22 of LRRH is almost finished, vacation is very near and I still have to do a bag for an exchange and stitch on a round robin and quilt on another round robin.

Progress..

Well I am not very talktive still, but I am around and stitching and sewing.

First the stitching bit. I am still stitching on Little red riding hood and well look at the picture and you are seeing right, she appeared on the last page out of nowhere. Doesn't she look great, really love the detail in her. As you can see in the past month (maybe less) I almost finished 2 pages. You will see more in a few weeks, also have to finish a bag and a round robin in the next weeks and than I am not talking about quilt rr's.

Than the quilting part. I have been working on the quilt in the past weeks. I saw this one here and I asked on a dutch quilting group how they thought it was put together and well together we found out how to do it. This was in february and I still hadn't made it myself. So now I started mine with a jellyroll with christmas fabrics. I think it will be called christmas wave or something like that.

Well that is all. See you later.

Spring fling round robin second try

And this one went in the mail today to .....

I know I have been a bit silence lately, but well some things happened that really touched me deep in not a good way. Since that happened I decided to not do any stitching exchange till I know how to feel about what happened.

Positive news is that I am walking again. Yeah!!! without crutches. I feel reallt great about that. Just the wound is still looking bad.

spring fling round robin

Here is the center I made for this. I love how it came out.

Now just have to wait till the next round will arrive. I like the most of this rr as you don't know how it will look like as there is a good oppertunity you won't be working on your own quilt at all. When I see all the quilts I will be working on I am sure almost I won't see anything back.

Fabrics for the spring fling rr and the bag exchange

I just went to a quiltshop not so far from here. Well when you haven't shopped for so long you are superhappy when you finally can do that again. The first fabrics are for thespring fling round robin for the center. I have an idea what to do and I hope the owner that will receive it in the end will like it.
The other fabrics are for the bag/bucket swap and well the light fabric looks totally different in real life. You will see what kind of bag it will be when finished. There will be some piecing in it and some pockets.
Stitching is not happening a lot. I am in the curtains again on LRRH and they are not going fast at all. It could be that I will be stitching something in between another design.

A knit top

Now I finally can walk again I just had to sit behind the sewing machine and well I used a fabric from my stash and one of the newly bought patterns. I decided on simplicity 3768. The knot was a bit difficult, but I am happy with how it turned out. I will make it again, but than I will make the neckline a little higher.

Little red riding hood and fabrics

I have been busily stitching on LRRH. Here is a pic of not the total piece as I am just to tired to spread it. I have now finished 20 pages.

Today my new sewing fabrics came in. The ecru fabric will be a skirt and the rest will be tunics. Hope to have some time

in the next days to start sewing, but it depends on how I feel.

Need help

I need some help for my mother. She will be joining my brother on a business trip and wants to know if there are any quiltshops in or close to Helsingborg in Zweden, also they will be in Helsingjog in Denmark. I hope I type both places right.
Good news, I can make little steps without my crutches as long as it is no more than 10 steps.
Also I finished page 20 of LRRH, pic will come later.

Great mail day

Today my DH went to the postoffice to collect a package for me from www.naaipatronen.nl and well I ordered some nice ones.
First Simplicity 4277. I have to say I like all the tunics very much. I am also sure I probaly will make a few of them. Just have to see which fabrics I will be using. From simplicity 2948 B, C and E very much. All have a very good chance to get used.
From simplicity 3697 I only don't like the sleeves on A, but the rest of them I really love.
Well from simplicity 3699 I like the V-neck very much, the round neck I am not sure of.
I am a big fan of A, B, E and F. The first top is not really my thing and the skirt I am not totally sure of.
From simplicity 4164 I like all the tunics, but D will get other sleeves that is sure.

I hope to show some sewing in a week or two. I have some fabrics that maybe work for these or when I can drive a car again I will go shopping for fabrics.

I am walking again

Well not really walking as I still need my crutches to walk, but it is going better and better. Yesterday they have removed all the iron in my leg and they had great problems with the local anaesthesia. They could anaesthetise my skin not well and so I first felt the cut in my skin and when she was finished I also felt every stitch she made in my skin and boy that was painfull. Also removing the plate was very painfull. But well I survived. I now can start walking again and I hope next week I can do the shopping again myself.
Well stitching and quilting, mmm I am busy stitching on Little red riding hood and this page is going very slow. I think I am now 2/3 on this page. Quilting I haven't done in a week or more, but is on my agenda this week/weekend. Hope to sandwich the hexagonquilt this week and start the quilting. I have bought fabrics last week at the fattquartershop and yesterday came in the first envelope. It were the charmpacks of winter from moda and two tinme1,5 yard of two of the fabrics. A jellyroll of winter is still on it's way and I also bought a christmas fabric jellyroll from moda, just can't remember how the line is called. Than this week I bought a few sewing patterns for cloths from Simplicity and Butternik.

Life is busy

The past weeks were very busy with work and also at home there was a lot to do. So that is why I have been silent. Now I just want to show my progress on Little red riding hood. I have finished page 19 now and am busy with 20. Both are difficult pages with a lot of color change. Do you see that the wolf really is growing. I love it every page a little bit more.

I am a happy girl

I am a very happy girl as I have my laptop since fridayevening and it is so great to being able to read all the websites now a lot better as I am now a lot closer to the screen.
Also I am doing great in not buying any fabric, this is already the 4th week without buying anything and the last buy I did was backing for a quilt, so I think buying fabric the last time was something like8 weeks ago.

Update LRRH

Just wanted to show you LRRH for this week as saturday and sunday there won't be any stitching happening as my father turned 60 tuesday and tomorrow we will be going to the zoo. Maybe I will get this page finished next week.
I have worked 3 days this week only 2 and a half hours a day and it was pretty hard, but I was glad with the distraction.

LRRH and a finish

Yesterday I heard my spring house and garden exchange finally arrived in Venezuela, took more than 7 weeks to arrive. I stitched a design from Little house needleworks. If I could remember which I would let you all know. It is just a little part of it as I wanted to finish it as a tin.
This week I have also been stitching on Little red riding hood and the second row of pages is finished now and I am busy with page 18.
I still love stitching this one very much.
Our day to Amsterdam was nice, but very tiring and I still feel it a lot. First we made filled chocolats and than we had a nice walk/ride through the Jordaan (part of Amsterdam) and after that a diner (the food was terrible and to go to the toilet I had to go up two stairs. My arms still hurt from them.
Today my DH had a job inteview and he got the job. I am so happy as he will earn more money.

Carol's Round Robin

This past 3 days I have been working on Carol's neighborhood round robin and yesterdaynight I finished it. The movie I was watching took a lot longer than was in the guide, but it was a good movie.
It is a design from Maryse called Elisa's sampler and I stitched part of it. Pic is not the best, sorry.
Tomorrow will be fun as I will go to Amsterdam by train. Luckily my colleagues will help me on and out of the train. Hope it will be a nice day.
My ankle isn't much swollen anymore and a lot less painfull.
At the moment I am mostly thinking about what we will be doing for vacation in September. Really thinking to go back to the Czech Republic, but not on the bike, but now just seeing churches, etc. LOL even thought about a sun, beach and sea vacation, but that is not really something for us.
Laptop will not be send till the 20th of June, but I can wait that long.

Stitching wise I am working on Carol's neighborhood rr and it going to be beautifull. Pic will follow later this week.

Quilting wise, am nothing, should do some quilting on Lentekriebels, maybe later today. And also should be working on a rr.

Update on LRRH

This is my weekly update on Little red riding hood from HEAD. I started stitching on it again after finishing NHA and only had a break from it while stitching spring fever. I have finished page 17 of it now (right side of the curtains and am now nusy with the page in between. The curtains on this side are the most boring that is why I first stitch them and can now almost go working on the clock.
