SSCS 2012

Yes it is that time of the year again and when I saw the blog of my partner I knew at once what to make and what fabrics to use. I have everything ready to bring with me to the Belgian quiltweekend this weekend. I will be leaving thursday morning and won't be back till monday in the afternoon.

Busy with something else

Well off course I am still stitching and I have finished another two pages of St Nick, but quiltingqise nothing is happening more than a little cutting for a new quilt. I am very busy with cooking and am busy putting recipes on my cooking blog. Also I am trying a lot of new recipes and most of them taste very good.
Natuurlijk ben ik nog steeds aan het borduren en inmiddels heb ik weer 2 pagina's af van St. Nick. Quilten staat op een heel laag pitje. Ik ben wel wat aan het snijden voor een nieuwe quilt, maar dat is alles. Ik ben op het moment voornamelijk druk met koken en recepten uit proberen. De ene lekkerder dan de andere. Jullie kunnen wat recepten hier vinden.

I think Sjors...

thought we didn't here that there was a lot of rain falling outside as he came inside with many meow. He got a big rain on him and he didn't like that LOL. After I dried him with a towel he was a happy cat again.
Sjors vond zichzelf net erg zielig. Hij kwam binnen luid miauwend. Het begon opeens keihard te regenen toen hij buiten was en hij kreeg die bui dus vol op zijn hoofd. We hoorden hem naar binnen stormen door het kattenluikje en daarna dus miauwen of hij doodging. Ik heb hem liefdevol afgedroogd met een handdoek en nu is hij heerlijk aan het slapen.

St Nick

Well St. Nick is still on the road to get in his study, but I am sure in a few months he will be in his study. Till now a lot of toys are in it, his big book and a chair of him. 3 pages finished since the last pic. I really love working on this one.

Ja de kerstman is nog op weg, maar over een paar maanden komt hij wel opdagen. Tot nu toe zijn er vooral speelgoed, zijn boek en zijn stoel te vinden. 3 pagina's af sinds de laatste foto.

Very good news

Today I had an appointment with my eardoctor and I got some great news. Everything looks so great, that it is almost like it was never infected or operated. I was so happy. We also talked about my biketrip and he was very proud that I did that and made it to the spanisch border.
I will try to take a pic of St Nick today or tomorrow as I have now 3 pages finished since the last update. So it is time to show you.
Vandaag goed nieuws gehad bij de KNO-arts. Mijn oor ziet er weer uit als nieuw. Net of het nooit ontstoken is geweest en nooit geopereerd. Verder gezellig over de vakantie gekletst en hij was helemaal trots dat we zover waren gekomen.
Ik zal proberen om vandaag een foto te maken van St Nick, want inmiddels heb ik 3 pagina's af sinds de laatste foto.

I have done it again. I have used some fabric. Didn't use anything since week 22, so that is some time ago. I just cut in a jellyroll for a new quilt. Pics I hope to show soon.
I haven't bought any fabric since week 4, isn't that great.

I know I am still a bit silent here, but life is getting in the way a lot. This weekend I am working on my Silvia's Bridal Sampler. Just cutting at the moment some blocks. For the rest I am not doing lots of things.
Today I got a pic of this beautifull wreath my mother made. Didn't she did a good job?
Ik weet het ik ben erg stil op het moment, maar het leven is gewoon wat hectisch op het moment met van alles en nog wat. Dit weekend ben ik druk bezig aan mijn sbs quilt. Voornamelijk snijwerk, maar het is beter dan niets.
Gelukkig doet mijn moeder nog iets waardoor ik een foto kan laten zien van deze mooie krans.

Hoorn-St.Jean-Pied-de-port on a bike

After 1465 km we arrived at St.Jean-Pied-de-Port today. It is a "little" city at the border with Spain and in the pyrenees. It is big because of all the pilgrims going to Santiago de Compostella by foot or bike. Mostly by foot. It is our finish place and it was therefore very emotional to arrive here. Now sunday we take the train back to home.
Our 3 weeks of vacation are fenomanal and I want to do them over again. Being with the french is always nice and when you are on a bike they are always very happy to assist you in anyway they can. Like when a big thunder is coming your way to find you the fassest route out of the place you are and to your sleeping place.
We have slept in Gite d'etappe, chambre d'hotes, hotels (from very cheap to very expensive and sometimes in beautifull places on mountains), Youth hostal and Campings. Everyone of them had his own charme and price. The cheapest was 6 euro and the most expensive around 110 euro (which was with diner and breakfast).

Last night we slept on a mountain the Col d'osquich which we climbed and there was a little hotel runned by a family and the room had such a perfect view, see the picture I tried to take. In the night the only thing you could here was when a cow was moving his head and his bell round his neck was clinging. There were a lot of bearded vultures in the sky looking for food.
Temperatures were climbing in the three weeks from 14 celsius degrees in heavy rains to 42 full in the sun. Most days were between 25 and 35 which are not bad temperatures to bike. A lot of hills and mountains were climbed.
A lot of dines were eaten by us. I love the French Menu du Jour which is in little places in rural areas not above 12 euro's. And for us a perfect lunch. Since we came in the land of the basque it was always a four-course meal with vegetablesoup in front which was very nice. The cheese also changed while we were going down from nice camembert to now hard goatcheese.  Also how many other bikers you met changed from none at a day to more than 8 per day. Some going the same way and some coming back. From all nationalities. We have made Australians which I gave the book from the trip from Amsterdam to Tours for them to use it, but also people from France, Spain, The netherlands, New Sealand and some other countries I am not sure of.
Now monday life is back to normal. Which I am sure is going to be very hard. From monday on I have to go and cook my own diner again. Well I can go and think what to cook while sitting in the train for 10 hours.

My new bike

A weekend away

This weekend I was together with my DH in Heuvelland in Belgium to get some training for our long biking trip to Pamplona. It was very nice. First I went to the Hoppequiltersbee in Poperinge. Where also a few bloggers were. It was a nice bee and I worked on my hexagonquilt. Than John and me went to our Bed and breakfast for 3 nights. The first night I asked Hilde for a nice place to eat and she send us here which was a very good place. We had a very nice diner there. The next day we had a nice biking route through Kemmel, Nieuwkerke, Dranouter and some other little places, we did 42 km. When we went into a road I discovered a place where I had diner before the last belgian quiltweekend in the neighborhood of Dranouter. It was very nice and we decided to make a reservation for that evening. When I was there in October there were not a lot of people, but when we were there in the evening it became more busier every minute and a lot of French people and again a lovely diner.
Than on Sunday we biked to Ieper and back, it was a ride of 37 km's and very nice. In the evening we had diner someweher on the Kemmelberg, but the name doesn't want to pop in my head.
Yesterday we had a workshop to repair things on our bike, like when a spoke breaks or when we have problems with the brakes.

Dit weekendje zijn we een weekendje weggeweest naar het Heuvelland in Belgie om even lekker te oefenen voor de komende vakantie naar Pamplona. Het was gelukkig zaterdag en zondag goed weer. Vrijdag begon met een heerlijk bee met de hoppequilters in Poperingen. We kwamen zelfs op tv, gelukkig zie je me alleen van de zijkant.
Nog even aan Hilde gevraagd of ze nog een lekker restaurant wist en dat wist ze en we hebben heerlijk in de Bralle in Dranouter gegeten. De volgende dag de eerste fietsdag, we zijn toen van de Klijte naar Kemmel, Nieuwkerke, Dranouter en nog een paar kleine plaatsjes gefietst, uiteindelijk kwamen we uit op 42 km. Toen we ergens een weg inreden vond ik een restaurantje waas ik was geweest in oktober vooraf aan het quiltweekend en ik toen per ongeluk tijdens het dwalen had gevonden en nu dus weer terug had gevonden. We hebben daar toen een tafeltje geserveerd en heerlijk gegeten 's avonds.
De volgende dag een fietsroute naar Ieper gepland en dat was ook een heerlijke tocht, iets minder heuvels dan de eerste dag. 's Avonds ergens op de kemmelberg gegeten en dat was ook weer heerlijk, zoals eiegenlijk altijd in Belgie.
Gisteravond hadden we de fietsreparatiecursus voor onderweg bij de Vakantiefietser in Amsterdam en dat was erg leerzaam. We kunnen nu een remkabel en derailleur vervangen en ook een nieuwe spaak en een slag uit het wiel halen en dan ook nog wat we allemaal aan de instellingen kunnen veranderen.. 

Doing great

I know I am not that much around on my blog, but now that I am working again I am very tired when I get home and I don't feel like blogging than. Today I went to the eardoctor and he was very pleased with how my ear looked like. In 2 weeks I will be back at his office again the day before my vacation to make sure everything is still ok and if my ear can become wet again.
Quiltingwise nothing happened, can't put myself to it. Luckily stitchingwise things are going great, very busy with st. Nick.

Ik ben wat stil op mijn blog, maar werken kost mij erg veel energie en dan komt er niks meer van bloggen. Ook is er niet zoveel te vertellen aangezien ik alleen maar borduur en niet quilt op het moment, dat wil gewoon even niet , waarschijnlijk een kleine dip. Hoop morgen in Popepringen bij de bee wat inspiratie op te doen.
Vandaag was ik bij de KNO-arts en alles gaat naar wens met mijn oor en hopelijk mag over 2 weken mijn oor weer nat worden.

Hier dan de nieuwe foto van St Nick. Is het geen plaatje? Ik vindt hem zo heerlijk borduren doordat er zoveel te zien is. De volgende rij pagina's werk ik af van beneden naar boven i.p.v. de andere 2 rijen van boven naar beneden. Om het verschil te laten zien ook de vorige foto erbij.

Back to work

Tomorrow I am going back to work. Looking forward to it as I am ready with sitting at home. I will also show a pic of my St Nick later today as I have almost 3 pages finished. One page was finished the day before the surgery and I hadn't taken a pic yet. The other two I did last week. In 4 weeks I will be going on holiday with my new bike. You can find a pic here, but mine will be pink with black accents.

Gelukkig morgen mag ik weer aan het werk. Ik loop inmiddels tegen de muren op van het vervelen. Eerst deze week 2 halve dagen en dan vanaf volgende week weer fulltime. Dat is maar 3 weekjes, want dan ga ik op vakantie met mijn nieuwe fiets. Ik heb een hele mooi Santos fiets gekocht. Foto's volgen nog wel. Hier kunnen jullie hem alvast zien, maar dan wordt die van mij roze met zwarte accenten. Ik hoop ook aan het eind van de dag een nieuwe foto van St. Nick te laten zien. Ik heb bijna weer 3 pagina's af, zodat mijn tweede rij pagina's af is. Ik had vlak voor de operatie al 1 pagina af, maar ik kwam er niet toe om een foto te maken. Nu zijn de volgende 2 bijna af.

Just got some news

Well let me first tell you that I was at the doctor tuesday and he was happy with how it looked. That was very good news. I am not totally deaf at one sight, but I have to say it is no more than 10% I think that I hear. I am sure I will get used to it.
Laat me beginnen met te zeggen dat ik afgelopen dinsdag bij de kno arts was en alles ziet er goed uit. Ik hoor ongeveer 10% aan mijn dove kant en dat wordt wennen, maar misschien als het geluid terug is over een jaar is dat nog veel meer wennen. Nu eerst een week met antibiotica om de gehoorgang schoon te maken en daarna nog een week zonder en dan weer terug naar de kno arts.

Than the next news is that the quilting on Long Story is finished, My mother told me that on the phone today. It is handquilted and it looks very beautifull. Pic will come next week when I will receive it back. Than I only have to put the binding on it. Now I have to go and think where I have left the binding fabrics.
Dan het volgende goede nieuws, mijn moeder belde vandaag dat het handquilten van Long Story klaar is. Volgende week brengen ze hem mee en dan gaat hij op de foto als ik ook de bies erom heb gezet. Nu bedenken waar ik de stof voor de bies heb gelaten. Dan gaat Journey of a quilter waarschijnlijk mee terug met mijn ouders om gequilt te worden.

LOL stashbusting????? what is that well I haven't busted anything in over 6 weeks and I haven't bought any new fabrics in 15 weeks. But maybe when I feel a bit better I can sandwhich Journey of a quilter for my mother, but that involves bending and that is something my head goes dizzy from.
Cutting fabrics is not an option as I will surely cut in my fingers. So no stashbusting will happen till in a few weeks.


Stof gebruiken uit mijn voorraad LOL, dat is in me in 6 weken nog niet gelukt, maar het positieve is dat ik in 15 weken ook geen stof heb aangeschaft. Maar misschien als ik mij wat beter voel sandwich ik Journey of a quilter, waarschijnlijk niet, want daar komt bukken bij kijken en daar wordt ik draaierig van in mijn hoofd,
Stoffen snijden doen we nog maar niet, want dan snij ik zekers te weten in mijn vingers. Dus waarschijnlijk over een paar weken gebruik ik wel weer wat stofjes.

I am slowly recovering

I am very slowly recovering at the moment. I am not that tired anymore. The only not so nice thing is that when I move I have the feeling that I had one or two drinks to much. I can't describe the feeling better. Also my stitches are itching and I may not scratch, so I am getting crazy. Glad they go out tuesday.

Het gaat elke dag een stukje beter met me op het moment. Ik ben niet meer dood- en doodmoe, maar ook nog niet mijn oude zelf. Na een paar minuutjes me inspannen, moet ik daarna toch echt nodig weer even gaan zitten. Zeker die balans is erg vermoeiend. Ik voel me als ik beweeg de hele tijd of ik te veel gedronken heb. De hechtingen jeuken als een gek en ja krabben mag niet, dus dat maakt me af en toe helemaal gek. Ben blij dat ze er dinsdag uitgaan.

Everything went well

Just a little note that the surgery went well and that I am doing fine. The only thing that hurts is my back, as now for 24 hours I could only lay on my left side or on my back. The Cholesteatoma  wasn't that big as he thought, because I have very solid bone like a snookerball, which was good for the cholesteatoma to not grow bigger and not so good for the doctor as he had problems to drill in it. So it is now for sure I have a hard head. My hammer and anvil were both affected by the cholesteatoma, but my stirrup was not affected at all and could stay in my ear and in one year I will get a titanium hammer and anvil.The only not so nice thing is that I don't have any taste at the left side of my tongue.
Even een klein berichtje om te laten weten dat alles goed met mij gaat. Het enige wat pijn doet is mijn rug aangezien ik al 24 uur alleen op mijn rug en linkerzij kan liggen. Het cholesteatoom was kleiner dan verwacht, dit kwam voornamelijk doordat ik heel hard bot hebm waar het niet in kon doordringen. De arts had daardoor ook moeite om er in te boren. Dus het is nu bewezen ik heb een hard hoofd. De hamer en het aambeeld waren wel aangetast en van het aambeeld stond nog maar een heel klein steeltje. Mijn stijgbeugel was nog niet aangetast en die hangt nog heerlijk in mijn oor te hangen en over een jaar krijg ik een titanium hamer en aambeeld (zal ik dan altijd afgaan bij metaaldetectors?). Het enige mindere is dat ik aan de linkerkant van mijn tong geen smaak heb, een beetje het gevoel als dat je verdooft bent bij de tandarts alleen die metaalachtige smaak blijft nu. Hopelijk is dat met een paar weken weer terug.

I passed my exam, Geslaagd!!!

Today I had to do my exam basic accounting and I just got an e-mail that I passed the exam with a very very good grade. In the Netherlands the grades go from 1 to 10. 10 is the best and I had a 9. Yeah!!!
I will keep my silence a bit as monday I will have my big earoperation.

Vandaag had ik mijn examen basiskennis boekhouden en ik kreeg net een e-mail dat ik met een 9 geslaagd ben. Niet slecht toch? 
Verder blijf ik hier nog wat stil, want maandag wordt ik geopereerd. Ben zenuwachtig, maar het gaat al een stuk beter dan gisteren.
