2 finishes

Well after a very nice retreat I can finally show you the finished pics of Four corners and Joy Luck. Both are quilted with King Tut thread which I really love for machinequilting. I hope to show another finish this week when I have corrected a little mistake.

St Nick and fabrics

Here is st nick with two pages finished and as you can see the third page is also progressing well.

Yesterday I was with her at the fabric market here in Hoorn. There are mostly fabrics for cloths, but I needed them too as I want to make a few cloths for myself again.Now I am going to leave you all alone for a long weekend and in a hour I will leave for this b and b , but I will stop here for the quiltshop and a lunch.

but can't show them as I want to keep a bit of a surprise at the belgium quilting retreat, but I can say both are schnibbles that weren't quilted yet. Now I am busy with the next quilt, which I also hope to finish on time.

My nose is going great, I am smelling and also have a lot of air. I am a very happy person at the moment.

Finishing things

Yes I am busy making finishes, but can't show them yet I want to wait till the quilting retreat in Belgium which is from october 8th, but I will be leaving on the 7th and sleep close to the place where the retreat is, but not at my normal place in Veurne, it is now even closer. A simple not to expensive bed and breakfast, also I will stay there on sundaynight, otherwise I will be just to late at home. After that I have a week off till the 15th and from tuesday the 12th till friday the 15th I will be at my local quilt shop behind the longarmmachine to quilt surely Long Story, my round robin and 40 T and maybe when I still have time left also the mysterie designer bom 2009 and when before the retreat I will get my other 3 quilts finished, I don't have any quilts in the closet anymore to get quilted, than I really have to make some new tops.

The ornament is an oldie.

Was away on vacation

I was a week away on vacation in France. To start the right way first a message to my SSCS. I am very easy. I like everything, but I am really crazy about bags and other things I can use. Colors I am very easy going. I have to say I wouldn't mind something christmassy.

Well now for the trip. It was a very easy going trip. We had fun in the swimming pool, she pics above, I am the one in the dark swimming suit and the sunglasses on, because with my glasses there was a chance that I wouldn't hit the ball for sure. And as you can see Robbie Williams was there too. LOL, just kidding, it is John from the shetland islands, at least he told us he was. I still think it was Robbie and I played Volleyball with him and we won.
Only biked 200 km in total over 4 days, 3 short ones and one long one to Vaison la Romain. We also went one day by car to Marseille and when we were driving we came in a little flooding, see the pics.

stashbusting and a finish

Bad bad bad week for stashbusting as a lot of stash came in and nothing went out, but I hope to bust some today. There came in 6 different fabric lines from each 2 charmpacks, which makes 12 in total and also a jellyroll of awesome.

Also I have to show a finish. State Fair made with Cherish Nature, quilted by my mother by hand.

Long story

Well the pattern is short story, but as I made it with a jellyroll and the quilt became a bit big for a schnibble (4 times as big), but I love it, am thinking about an extra black border as the last border to make it maybe even more stunning. We will see, will decide later, but for now it is finished.

St Nick

Just wanted to show you a pic of St nick with one page finished.

I know I am a bit quiet, but I have big problems with non-allergic rhinitis, air will not go much through my nose at the moment and it makes me very tired. I have it already for a few years, but I was ready with it and after a trip to the doctor I am now going to the throat nose and ear doctor the 17th of september and I hope he can help me. This weekend I hope to finish short story, but as it is a bit big (made it with a jellyroll) I call it long story.

It was a not so great week, but lucky me I used some stash too. I have used a 12 days of christmas jellyroll and some black backgroundfabric for the next schnibbles "short story", but also fabric came in from Martinique and Awesome.

I just finished the schnibbles for july. I was so happy with the longer deadline as my pattern came in very late due to the postal system. I have made it with alliance from Moda.

And what is this going to be? Well the schnibbles for august. Think black and 12 days of christmas.

august 1 stashbusting report

Well it is good and bad week. First last week I didn't do a stashreport as I wasn't at home and I had nothing to report.
This week a lot of fabric came in. Yardage and a jellyroll from Park Avenue and the pattern for Joy Luck came finally in. So this thursday I could finally start cutting the fabric for the schnibbles for July. I haven't finished it yet, but we have a week longer for this one. Lucky me.

St Nick

Today the tour de france takes a little bit of our route. We also biked from Aouste to Alixan, but than the other way around. It was part for us of a 93 km day from Hauterivers to Aouste and a tough one.

I wanted to show a pic of St Nick. This one is from before the weekend, I haven't stitched on it since last week thursday.

I hope that next week the pattern for the new schnibbles comes in, so that I can finish it on time.

Miniquiltbee

This weekend my mother and me were in Belgium in this beautifull bed and breakfast in Veurne. I have been here alone in 2008 when I went a few days earlier to the belgium quiltweekend. I love it very much and the breakfast is really special. Every day there is something different and when you can get to have hosttable in the evening, that is really a treat. This time we had quail for diner and it was delicious. Now I have it in my freezer too, to make it some time soon and I know how to make it now.
When we drove to Veurne we went to this quiltshop and I have bought some beautifull fabrics there. I am making 1/2"inch hexagons with them. which I started at the mini quilt bee in Poperinge.

On saturday we did a nice bikeride to Poperinge where Hilde organized a little quiltbee in the garden with Inge , Katrien , Gudrun and Jose. It was very nice to meet them again. In October I will see them again at the belgium quiltweekend. Pics can be seen at their blogs.

The rest of the weekend was also lovely.

Did I do some stashbusting or not? Well I didn't bust anything only added a jellyroll from 12 days of christmas from the jellyroll club of the month. But I am still good in not ordering anything. I hope to stay strong next friday in Woudrichem at the quiltshop.

Yes, yes yes yes I am happy

The dutch are through the semifinals of the world cup soccer. LOL but that is not why I am really happy. The part I am the most happy about is that Little red riding hood is finished. I started it 1 august 2006 and now it is finished. Isn't it beautifull.

Today I started a new one and it is ...... drumroll...... St nick in his study.

Back home

I just came home. We did a total of 820 km and now I need a rest. I will put some pics up tomorrow.

We have made it

Tuesday at 5 in the afternoon we reached our goal. St Marie de la Mer. The last day was very hard as it was very windy and it came from the side. I got tears in my eyes when I reached my goal. Now we are in Dijon and tomorrow we are gone and collec our car.

My first week of vacation and almost my goal done

As you have read I am n vacation in France and makig a bicycle trip from Besancon to St Marie sur Mer (at the mediteranai (700 km in total). I have done now 603 km and am close to the sea, should take us only one day. The weather has been great all days, only this morning started a bit rainy, but when the mistral came it blowed all the clouds away and now it is sunny, but windy outside.We have climbed aroun 100 km for sure and the longest climb was 8.2 km, which was over de col de lauzun at 504 meter high. Like always the food in France is great and not expensive, the hotels and bed and breakfasts we had were marvelous, only the one camping we had was bad, but we were happy we had a sleeping place after all as we were very tired.
I took 2 books with me and I hope I will also use the second book as I haven't done that much reading yet, but on thursday we will be in the train for 5 hours. The longest ride was 93 km and the shortest, maybe 63 km or something like that. Two days we had big troubles with flat tires on John his bike.

Top finished

Monday the last block of the mysterie designer bom came in, so I could go and finish the last 3 blocks and finish the top. And off course it worked out perfectly and this morning I did the last few stitches on it. I loved making this one very much, not one thing wrong with the instructions and also they were easy to follow.

It will go on my pile of "I need to quilt this biggies one day".

Judith on the road

As I am very busy on my bike, I started a new blog to show you my journeys. Judith on the Road I just put in the pics of my trip to my parents house last week and the text is a bit lower, but at the moment only in dutch, but when I am in France, I will do it also in English.

Still alive

I am still alive, just very silent due to my coming vacation. It needs a lot of planning and searching on the internet. I have made reservations at the first 2 bed and breakfasts. Have looked for train information in France. Our longest trip will be a bit more than 80 km, which is very far by bike. I am sure my legs will be hurting by than and I will hate my saddle by than. LOL lucky for us most part of that ride is downhill out of the jura. Hope the weather will be better by than.
Today I have to work on my 1930 quilt to get the border on, as my parents will come visit tomorrow (like my mother said she will come eat on mother's day) and she wants desperately quilt my 1930 quilt. Showed it 2 weeks ago without the borders to her to ask her if she wanted to quilt it and she would love to do it.
For diner we will eat lamb cooked for 5 hours with vegetables, wine and some other things by Jamie Oliver.
Also I really need to tell you how my little vacation was last weekend. Hope to do that today.

Little red riding hood

This month I finished 3 pages. Only 5 more to go. Really hope to have it finished soon, but in the next two months there won't be lots of stitching time, but we will see.

Yesterday I bought myself two new glasses, new sunglasses and new normal glasses. The pair I have now is 7 years old, so it was time for something new. They will arrive probaly in 2 weeks. So in time for my vacation.

Well it was a good and a bad week, but when it hadn't been such a good week, than the bad part was even worse.
First the good thing. Fabric went out like crazy with borders, backing and binding for turning pink and backing for the round robin quilt. Both backings were pieced form fabric from my stash. I made a ditch is my red fabrics.
Than there came fabric in from Martinique, Cherish Nature and Rural Jardin and also the new mysterie designer bom block. I have to say this bom block isn't my favorite so far.

Turning Pink

Last night I finished the top from Turning Pink. I loved making this one very much as I just love working with jellyrolls. What will be next?

Margeeth asked for a pic of my stash and off course I am always listening to questions, so here it is. About this first pic. These are the jellyrolls, fq-bundles, charmpacks and layercakes I owe. Behind the fqbundles there is also a jellyroll and you see a bit of fabric from astor manor.With the fqbundles, jellyrolls and layercakes I have already planned which quilts I am making of them.

Than the next pic is the rest of the stash minus 15 yards black and 15 yards Ivory bella solids who are in front of the closet. The lowest blue box isn't with fabric, but with batting. The rest is sorted on color. And you see a bit of a small green box which is filled with 2.5 inch strips. The highest blue box is filled with fabrics that match the bundles, etc of the other pic.

I also wanted to show you a pic of turning pink as far as I am now.

Next to it is a row of boxes with stitching stuff. And at the other ends there are also two rows of boxes, but than with sewing fabrics for cloths.

stashbusting week 15

I just love stashbusting and I am really seeing my stash go down.

This week some fabric came back in the stash from the carolina christmas mysterie as I didn't like the outcome of the mysterie and because I wasn't that far yet I could stop easily. 3 meter in from the fabric that were leftover.

Than the fabric that went out. First I have busted fabric for the backings and bindings from the schnibbles quilts Sunday Best and Tagalong. I also busted fabric for the binding of the mysteriequilt on the pic. My mother called me wednesday that the quilt was finished. I think I gave it to her in september to quilt it by hand. She loved it very much and asked if she could quilt it. She wanted to finish it before it gets warmer (I said that she also could quilt on it next winter, but she wanted to finish it now) and so she did. So I made the binding and as soon as the quilt it home again I will finish the binding.

I also busted fabric for a new quilt. I started a new one and I call it turning pink. It is done with a Candy Kisses. Already going great with putting it together and hope to have it finished this weekend. I will also need some fabric from my stash, but don't know yet which piece and how big it will be.
