2 finishes

These past days I have been very busy. First I needed to make some kilometers on my bike for training. Since tuesday I already done 45 km. Than I wanted to have the schnibbles I had laying around to be finished. First I started putting together the top from Tagalong, this months schnibble. I have done it in Bar Harbor and I just loved making it. I also learned a lesson, always clean your desktop first before you start to quilt, because maybe you will otherwise end up with a piece of other fabric on the back.

Than I also wanted to finish Sunday Best and so I quilted it to. Yesterday it was binding time and now both of them are finished.

A finish

Today I finished roundabout. Quilted it already this weekend, but it was just wanting for the binding and today I was up already very early 7.00 am on my day off and after doing some housecleaning I did do the binding.

This week I also have been working on the mysterie designer bom and now put the top together as far as I good do.

It is time for the weekly stashreport. It is a good one as I finished all the blocks from the 1930 quilt, that is 6 meter out of my stash. This was an oldie from for the stashreports, so I decided with myself that for the oldies I can count the stash when I finish the top.

Also the monthly jellyroll came in, so 2.5 meter came in. It was a jellyroll from Martinique and a quilt is planned already.

All blocks finished..

And the quiltttop put together. Now just have to decide on the borders. Probaly will be one of the green colors or a piece of all the colors that are in it, but I think I will do that for the binding.

I can't do any applique for a week or more as one of my fingers is really hurting. Well lucky me I haven't planned any applique soon.

With this top finished I may start two new quilts as the box from 40 T is still empty and waiting for a new project. Also have to decide about the carolina christmas as I am not really liking the outcome of the mysterie.

I am back

Well I was already back sundayafternoon, but since than I was just to tired to do anything, but do a bit of applique on my 1930 quilt. I hope to have the top finished soon. The 3 total white blocks are places where only appliqueblocks will come the other empty places are blocks that are pieced and appliqued.

I have done the bottom half blocks of the quilt this weekend and some of the upperhalf. I have done 40 blocks, little ones and big ones. Only 6 more to go, from which one will be finished tonight.

Well a very good week. I had a very big bag with quiltfabrics on my attic that was used for donationquilts a few years ago, I still had a lot left and a friend makes now Little quilts of Love and I decided to donate the fabric and give them to her and so a lot of fabric went out, but also a lot came in. I was out of backgrounds fabrics and so I bought 15 yards of ivory bella solid and 15 yards of black bella solid and a bit of yardage from Bar Harbor. And off course the new bom block.

On quilting retreat

I will be gone till sunday. I will in the east-middle part of the Netherlands for a retreat with 60 other ladies and I am sure we will have lots of fun. Everything is packed and tomorrowmorning I will leave and probaly will go and first visit my parents who live in the neighbourhood of our retreat place and maybe visit a quiltshop too.
Yesterday I have been very busy with the mysterie designer bom and now all the sashing strips are ready and when I am back home, I will finish the top as far as I can with still two blocks missing.

Yesterday and today I have been sewing up a storm on the 5 blocks I still needed to make. This week or next probaly block 10 will arrive. Now I will go and work some more on the finishing kit.

And I wand to sandwhich 3 quilts to get them quilted and finished.

Updates

Last month I forgot to take my monthly pic of Little red riding hood, so now it was really time to take one.Sorry I was to lazy to take of my q-snap for the pic. Only 8 pages to go.

This week I have been working on the march schnibbles and I have finished the top. I really loved this one very much. It is roundabout and it is made with Astor Manor and the background is from Winter. I hope to quilt it this week.

Thursdayafternoon I will go to my quiltretreat and now I have to go and think what to bring and I already have some good ideas what it will be.

Well don't really want to talk about this week as 2 envelopes have landed, 7.90 meter. What was in the envelopes, 3 meter of Whimsy yardage, a whimsy jellyroll and a bit of yardage from breath of avignon.
But the positive thing was that there also went a bit out for the schnibbles, 2.20 meter.

I won!!!

Got a letter today in the mail that I won a weekend trip of two nights to this hotel in Venray. Last weekend we went to the biking and walking expo in Amsterdam and my DH filled in a lot of cards for things to win including this hotel and my name was picked out of all the names. Lucky us. Now just have to see which weekend we can plan to go there. I have so many vacations from april till september that that is the hardest to do. Think it will be in July probaly.

I am busy with the march schnibble, it is roundabout and I am like Sherri using Astor Manor. Everything is cut, I only have to sew everything together.

Also busy cleaning the houseas saturday my family will come and visit and we will have a nice diner together for my DH his birthday.

Little red riding hood is growing, have to take a pic soon as I forgot my monthly pic for february.

Well that was some last minute sewing, but I finished it on time. Curious to see tomorrow what will be the new pattern.

A quiet birthday

Tomorrow I will have a very quiet birthday as I have to work all day and even will be a lot longer on my work for a meeting that will last till 9 pm with diner inclusive. Also it will be quiet as the past (5 or even more birthdays I always was involved in birthdayclubs from quilt or stitchinggroups and this year I am in none. I have to say I miss the envelope happiness that always arrived before my birthday. But it was my own choice to quit with all of the birthdaygroups and also other exchanges. The only one I will do every year is the sscs as I just love that one.
My vacation was great by the way, forgot to tell you. We had great weather and enough snow.
I am busy with the schnibbles of february "Sunday Best" and I am doing it with the "Eva"line from Moda and it is getting more beautifull. Hope to show a pic soon of the finished top.

Monthly Update

I almost forgot to take my monthly pic. So it is a few days later than a month ago. 3 pages finished and only 10 pages to go (if I counted right). I didn't have a lot of stitching time this month due to Christmas and other things happening around here.

Also a few people asked how I have quilted Sweet Escape so here a close up pic of a little part.

Now it is sewing time, tomorrow I am going to make a few cloths (well I hope I will make more than one thing). And tomorrow stashbustiong report, it is surely not a bad report.

Another finish

Yes I have been busy quilting and binding this quilt. I am so in love with the colors. It is made with 2 gobble gobble layer cakes and a bit of yardage. The patterns in Sweet Escape from Miss Rosie designs.

What is next I think a bit of sewing cloths.

quiltathon sunday and another finish

I am on a roll these days. I just finished the binding on the snowballs and ninpatches quilt. It is made from Nature's Chorus and the pattern from a book from which I don't know the name at the moment as it is my mother's book. Only 3 more quilts to quilt and than my pile of quilts to quilt is gone, than I need to get on with the quilts that waiting to be finished in to a top. Just have to decide from that pile which is first in line. From the to quilt pile Sweet Escape will win.

This has been a great week for busting stash, but there also came some in, well more than there went out. A fatquarterbundle of Garden Party came in. When yardage arrives at the fatquartershop I will order a bit and from this collection and than I will make Summer Rental from Miss Rosie from this collection. It doesn't happen very often that I already know which quilt I will make from it, but this is one I knew immediately when I saw the collection. Still have two bundles to decide which quilt to make from.

Than about the fabric going out. Well backings and bindings for all 3 quilts I finished this week.

Quiltathon

This weekend is the quiltathon and so I am very busy working on quilts. I have finished another one. It is the babyquilt in which I was working. I have added a few appliques, just ready ones and quilted it.

Also Jantine asked for closeups to see the quilting on Picnic and Madeline.

Next to work on is the mysterie designer BOM or quilting on sweet escape. You will see what I have choosen tomorrow. Also my stashbustingreport looks great tomorrow.

2 schnibbles finished

It were a busy two days. Monday I started quilting Picnic, but as I had a very short night as I had a call from my work that I was needed there sundaynight, I just wanted to go to bed early. Yesterday I finished the quilting on Picnic. I have done freestyle feathers on it and I have to say with the darker binding on it I like it a lot more.

Than today I had as a goal to quilt Madeline and bind it and so I did. I have done stars and kringles on it. I have to say love wuilting with the King Tut thread and also the quilting needles. Only on Picnic I had a lot of breakage of my needles as some points are a bit thick and the needle had big problems with it. Next to quilt is ninepatch and snowballs. Just a few flowers and than the binding can be put on, maybe it will be finished tomorrow (don't think so).

Only 5 more quilttops to quilt (snowballs and ninepatches, 40T, Sweet Escape, round robin and a babyquilt). Hope the batting will come soon that I have ordered.

I am ready with the snow

Since the 17th of december we have snow and since than I only dared 2 days to go by bike to my work, the rest of the days I just had to go by car as our street has not even snow, but the hole road is ice, you can skate on our road without any problems. I just want to go y bike, but just can't and I hate it. Please give me some warmer weather, so that the snow melts and I can bike again. We are also sleeping under two quilts as otherwise it is just to cold in the bedroom.

Today I have sandwiched the gobble gobble quilt or sweet escape from Miss Rosie designs. I already decided how to quilt it, but first I will finish the quilting on my ninepatch and snowball quilt. Tomorrow I also will sandwich Picnic and Madeline and those two will be quilted before I will start quilting sweet escape, so I can get in the quiltingswung again as somehow I always need to get my hands and arms loose. So the coming week will be for quilting only as I off course also have to finish a few quilts, otherwise will my pile of unquilted tops be getting to high.

This morning I finished the top and I love it , I am very happy with my color choice. Now just have to double it and go quilt it.

A finished little top

Quilts are keeping me busy these days. First on the last day of the year I have worked on this little quilt. It is for the baby of my colleague. Just have to quilt it, but don't ave the right color in my stash. Will have to go and shop next weekend, just have to decide to which store I will go. To Amsterdam where there are two shops next to eachother and I am sure I will find the right color or I can go to a shop closer where they have some demonstrations of Husqvarna sewing machines and also nice offers or I can do both as the demonstrations of Husqvarna are o

n friday and saturday and I have the friday also off from work and go to Amsterdam on saturday. Will really have to think about that.

Yesterday we got the schnibbles for january and it is Madeline, one of the newer ones and I am already very busy cutting as you can see. I am doing it will old primrose inn. Hope to do some more on it today, but not sure if I will feel up to it.

Also really have been busy with trying to decided how to quilt 40T and Gobble Gobble. Gobble Gobble will be quilted with leaves, 40 T I am not sure yet.

Goals for 2010

Well here I am again, now for the goals for 2010
1. Finish Little red riding hood ("only" 12 pages to go LOL)
2. Do all the schnibbles in the year of schnibbles and finish all of them, which also means quilting and binding them.
3. Finish the top if the mysterie designer BOM and probaly ask my mother to quilt it.
4. Finish the top of the 1930's quilt
5. Make 24 SBS blocks (which means 2 a month)
6. Finish Nature's Chorus (ninpatch and snowball quilt)
7. Finish Sweet Escape Gobble Gobble quilt
8. Finish 40T
9. Finish Picnic
10. Work on Journey of a quilter
11. Work on tisket a tasket
12. If I finish LRRH start another HEAD
13. Read 12 books
14. Finish some other miss rosie quilts.
15. Cook some more new dishes, the first new kitchen is chinese that I am going to try.

Finished a quilt top and the stashbusting report

I have finished 40T finally this weekend. I am thinking about a good name for it. I loved sewing on it every minute and do love the look of it.

Well thursday early in the morning I unwrapped my gift as I was going away until today and I just love what I received, a beautifull crochetted and felted bag. I am surely going to use it.

Than today I did send an e-mail to Dawn my exchange pattern to see if she had figured out what it was she received, well she didnt, just see her e-mail:

"After I had cleaned up, and we still had visitors, I then said, look what I have received from the Netherlands and went and obtained the box from the tree. I opened the smalller of the two parcels first and was absolutely estatic with the materials - just LOVE the tonings - you got it very right., then the bigger parcel - yes this did have us all intrigued as we went from discussing what it would be used for - well you can imagine , we tried every which way but couldnt work out the "final" use - we had tried to make it into casserole holders, shapes, but you had us all miffed. I think it was the gorgeous Xmas fabric which made us all think it was a Xmas themed product, hence why we were trying think it was a "kitchen" themed idea!!!! I can say that i too just LOVE the fabric - in fact have one of the "dot" ones and also the candy cane ones which I purchased in New Zealand earlier in the year, so that is absolutely amazing.

Now - a Sewing Machine cover - let me go and see.......................................
oh you are amazing - how on earth did you know it would fit???? Do you have the same machine????

Yes I saw this machinecover on the modabakeshop and just fell in love and immediately thought about Dawn and that I would make it for her from my "Winter" Jellyroll. I asked on an onlinegroup I belong too if someone had a machine like hers and if they could meassure it for me and someone could do it. I am very gratefull that she was so helpfull. That is why it looks a bit strange on my machine as a Bernina has a table on it and not mine. I am glad she likes it so much and they had so much fun to find out what it was for.

I have to say I loved making it and will probaly make one for my own sewingmachine too as soon as I have a few things I must finish have finished.

2 finishes and Little red riding hood

What shall I show you first LRRH or my finishes. Well I think the finishes.

First I finished a tuffet, which is a pincushion and also a schnibbles pattern from Miss Rosie. It is made from leftovers from the november schnibble.

Than I also made another fabricwreath, now for myself. I love how this one came out too. You can find a tutorial here, but I have to say I make the little bags a bit different so that I have the opening onthe back, I also don't close that little hole as it is real small and also on the wreath itself.

And than off course the monthly update on Little red riding hood. Another 2 pages finished and a lot done on the next 3 pages.

I am also very busy with 40T, all the stars are finished and am now busy with the ninepatches. Hopefully it will be finished the coming days.

SSCS ornament

I just read that my package arrived at dawn and she is happy with it. I am always worried if a package will arrive or not. I stitched her an ornament as about my stitching I am sure it is beautifull. It is from LHN from an ornament issue( don't know which one for sure.)

Now she has to wait for 2 weeks before opening the rest of the packages.

Busy bee

I am very busy with work at the moment and some private stuff and almost can't find anytime to blog myself or read blogs. Hope the coming weeks will be a bit better.
This week my brother was in Winconsin and well as some of you know there was a lot of snow there. I am so jealous as I just love snow. Today we finally have had a cold night and I just love it. John is , like last saturday, working, so I have the house for myself all day. Today I will be cooking Cassoulet. The beans are already soaking for 10 hours. I hope it will taste nice in the end.

This week I received my sscs package and you see here a pic of the ornament on the package, isn't it a beautifull ornament? Annie is my partner and my so curious what is in the package. Can't almost not wait to open.

This week I worked on 40 T as I would love to have it finished this year. I still have 12 more of these stars to do and than if I am corret 13 ninpatches. I hope I can make it in that time.

A finish

When I was at my parents my mother gave me the quilted Cindy Lou Who. She handquilted it for me. I just love what she did with it. There is a flower in each snowball block.

I tried to make a detail pic of it.. Didn't work out to well, but I hope you can see it.

Last week I got some fabric as presents and also my price from the schnibbles. And after a bit of debating I decided to count it after all as fabric in. Also today came an order from fatquartershop. I had to order the year of schnibbles pattern "tuffets" and because only an envelope with one pattern is a bit to empty I also ordered two charmpacks from alliance and some yardage.
Also fabric went out. The charmpack for the christmas wreath in my last post and some more background fabric for the carolina mysterie.

Answers and Goals

A lot of people ask why I am giving angel of summer away. Well that is an easy one to answer for me. I am with everyone that she is beautifull, but she is not my style and just don't have room to hang her and she is already finished for some years now and for the girls saying that it must have taken me very lon to finish, that is not true, she was finished in about 6 weeks I think.

I decided to give myself a few goals per month again as it motivates me a bit better. Here are they for December:
- Work on the caroline christmas mysterie
- Work on the mysterie designer bom (finish block 5,6 and 7 and work a bit more on the finishing kit).
- Work on 40T
